The Elizabethan Academy is a successful 11-19 Academy, with sixth form. Students and staff benefit from the excellent facilities. We are looking for an individual to share our commitment and determination to providing a learning environment that enables all young people to thrive.
We have all-encompassing professional development opportunities with a structured path to enable career progression. This includes secondments at other schools in the East Midlands and formal leadership coaching. We work closely with our feeder primary schools and the successful candidate will have scope for working across the phase. We are also part of the Redhill Teaching Alliance.
We are a “Brilliant School” and have recently been awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools.
The successful candidate will join a hardworking, forward thinking and supportive department. You will have the opportunity to be involved in or lead foreign trips, which are encouraged as a key element of our student experience. We are one of the few schools to offer three languages at A Level but also offer additional languages such as Italian and Latin as part of our extra-curricular enrichment programme.
This exciting post in our Modern Foreign Languages Faculty would suit an NQT as well as a more experienced applicant.
The Academy also has an off-site alternate provision centre at the beautiful Idle Valley Nature reserve. We are looking to extend our curriculum offer there which could provide the success candidate with an exciting opportunity to be involved in something different.
The successful candidate will take on an existing 0.6FTE timetable. There is however potential for a full-time role subject to a willingness to teach a second subject or undertake Academic Mentoring work.
Our ideal candidate will:
• be passionate about teaching MFL and committed to achieving excellent results for their students
• have the ability to teach KS3 to KS5 Spanish
• demonstrate high levels of ambition and optimism regarding what the academy and its students can achieve
• have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils
• be committed to the Academy’s ethos of high expectations with no excuses
An ability to teach a second subject would be an advantage but is not essential.
The Elizabethan High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
